Chemistry:
The sample was lipemic. The score reflects the degree of lipemia graded on a 0-4 scale where 4 is severe. Sample lipemia can artificially increase total protein values when performed by refractometer methodology. It may also interfere with GLDH quantitation. Other routine chemistry analytes are generally not affected.

For this test, the sample exhibited reactivity greater than the dynamic range of the analyzer. Quantity was insufficient to further dilute this sample to obtain a result.

Very low volume sent for testing. Please refer to the test manual for sample volume requirements for optimal test performance.

A moderate hypocholesterolemia was noted. A decrease in cholesterol can indicate liver disease, metabolic disease, maldigestion/malabsorption, or starvation.

Electrophoresis Comments:

The beta globulins are increased and reflective of a cute inflammation. Moderate to marked increases in this fraction can be observed with nephritis, hepatitis, dermatitis, and mycotic infection. Increases may also be observed with sarcocystosis and chronic chlamydiosis as well as mycobacteriosis. Specific beta globulin proteins which often manifest as a monoclonal appearing peak in this fraction are also increased in egg laying birds. Another consideration should include lymphoproliferative diseases given the monoclonal appearance. Follow up EPH may have prognostic value in this case.
